The Girl Behind The Lens

Hi. I'm Stephanie Smith, owner of Pawsitively Pictures.I absolutely LOVE pet photography.

For me, pet photography is so much more than just taking a picture. Its about understanding the relationship between owner and pet and then capturing the candid personality of the pet one shot at a time. Both the images and the experience will bring joy and timeless memories that last "fur-ever" :)

Sneak Peek {Tampa Pet Photography}

This weekend was action packed with both wedding and pet portraits. I have to admit, I sooo enjoyed the two pup shoots to the wedding :) There is just something about a 6 month old coton de tulear and two shih tzu sisters that warm my heart. So here is a little sneak peek at the puppy part of my weekend. Much more to come!

Wesley {St. Petersburg Pet Photographer}

So it’s been a hot while since I last blogged. And I can’t think of a better pup to bring back the postings with then Wesley. Wesley is a cocker spaniel, American eskimo mix. His mommie, said that when she first rescued him he was so skiddish and nervous about everything. Well that was five years ago, and now, all I could see was a precious little mama’s boy that loved rolling on his back for belly rubs. He totally worked the camera with his little head tilt too. I could have photographed him all day long. Here are some of my favorites from his session at Gone to The Dogs Boutique.

Sneak Peek of What I’m Working On

So things on the blog have been quieter then usual. Not intentional, just trying to get a few new things started with the pup stuff as well as gearing up for wedding season. I seem to be slacking on keeping everyone up to date with the latest and greatest from Pawsitively Pictures. Don’t worry there are alot of neat things that will be blogged shortly. Alot of on location sessions happening this month plus a Tito Tuesday or two :) And just so I don’t leave you all hanging here is a little sneak peek of Eli, the adorable Frenchie who had his debut this weekend. More to come from him and a bunch of other pups too.

Boss {Tampa Pet Photographer}

Meet Boss, the adorable 3 year old aussie. There are so many things I love about this breed. First off they have these eyes, sometimes blue, and sometimes hazel that always melt your heart when you look at them. Second they are so super smart. Trust me, if you can’t finish the alphabet they could probably do it for you :) And lastly I think that Australian shepherds have the best head tilt around. Tilt it to the left, or take it to the right, they keep you laughing with the endless amounts of expressions and personality. Boss man was all that and a bag of chips. I had so much fun with him and his mom, Beth, during our studio session. Here are some of my favorites from his shoot.

Tito Tuesday {Snowflake Style}

Are the Holidays really over? It came and went so quickly and now I am forced to eat healthy and exercise regularly because the resolution guilt is upon me. Well, no thank you! I think I would rather relive a few precious moments from 2010. Tito and I flew up to Philadelphia to visit my mom for Christmas. The forecast was calling for snow. Now I didn’t say anything out loud because I didn’t want to jinx the chance of Tito and his first snow experience. But as soon as the flurries started falling I knew that we were in for it. Fortunately we didn’t get pummeled like New York. The “burbs” of Philadelphia got around 5 inches. Just enough to coat the grass but not enough to cripple the city. I wasn’t sure what Tito was going to think of the snow. He did this hop and flop thing. He would hop like a bunny and then just kind of lay in the snow. A few days after the initial snow I took him to his favorite spot from the summer, Aegon Park. He literally came to life as soon as he heard the Canadian geese cackling. We had a blast. The last leg of our trip took us up to Maine to visit my dad. One would assume that since it’s further North there would be more snow, but there wasn’t. We were able to access the coast and the rock beaches without any problem. It was good times had by all this Holiday season. Here are some of my favorites from the trip.

Merry Christmas!

Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Christmas! Thank you so much for an awesome year. And stay tuned because we’ve got alot of great things coming in 2011 !!!

Payton + Zeus {St. Petersburg Pet Photographer}

Meet Payton and Zeus, the adorable two-some that came into Green Dog Wash to have their pet portraits taken. The thing I enjoyed most about these two were their facial expressions, especially from Payton {the long haired dachshund}. His eyes said it all. Everything from, “you’re boring me”, to ” you want me to sit next to him?”. I couldn’t stop giggling with these two pups. Here are some of my favorites from their shoot.

Holiday Pet Portraits {Last Chance of The Season}

Okay all you last minute Holiday shoppers, do I have an idea for you. Bring your pup into Green Dog Wash this Saturday, December 11th to have a pet session taken by yours truly. No other gift can say “I Ruv You”quite like Holiday Pet Portraits by Pawsitively Pictures. Gift certificates will also be available for purchase at the store.

Dining In The Dark

Imagine showing up to an event dressed to the nines. You’re 43 floors above the Tampa Skyline in the Bank of America Building. The drinks are flowing, the music is serenading you and all the other guests that have started to arrive. After an hour you are escorted down the hall into the main room where the music continues to play. You are then asked to take your seat and put on your blindfold. And for the rest of the night, including your 4 course meal you will remain blindfolded. You were challenged to experience what a blind person goes through every day. This was dining in the dark, hosted by the Southeaster Guide Dogs in order to raise money and awareness for the organization. Southeastern Guide Dogs is a non profit organization whose mission is to create and nurture a partnership between visually impaired individuals and a guide dog, facilitating life’s journey and mobility with independence and dignity. Day Time host Cyndi Edwards was there to show support and a silent auction {with the uber talented pet photographers Emiliee Fuss Photography and Pawsitively Pictures donating a session} was also on exhibit to raise money for the group. I was so excited to be a part of their evening. It was an extremely eye opening experience {no pun intended}.
