Today On Our Walk Tuesday

I had a tradition with my old blog every Tuesday. I would post a blog called Tito Tuesdays. This was exclusive information, little tid bits if you will, on the life of my dog Tito. Along with learning something new about him there would always be images of his journeys. Well, with the new blog comes new ideas. I will still periodically do Tito Tuesdays however I have come up with a new Tuesday blog. This subject tugs at my heart just as much as animals, and that is the environment. We are an extremely wasteful society. We bleed our resources dry and then move on to the next victim. I know I have been guilty of this as well in the past, however over about the course of 5 years I have really been trying to be as conscience as possible in making the earth a better place to live. About three times a week I take Tito for a walk on the beach. We both love the salt air, the sand, and the water. One thing I don’t care for is the trash build up that washes ashore with the changing tide. I used to pass by it, or take Tito to the other part of the beach. But now I have decided that I need to be the change. So now, when Tito and I go for our walks, whether down to the beach or around the neighborhood I bring a blue shoulder bag with me. Every time I find a recyclable item I will pick it up and dispose of it properly upon returning home. Last week on the beach I found 12 plastic bottles, 1 glass bottle, and 1 aluminum bottle. According to the Think Green website that is enough energy to power 533 hours of cell phone time! And that’s from one walk. I know change can happen, but the change has to start from within. I’m excited about this new blog and encourage everyone to think of a way on how you can better your surroundings.
